Are You Ready? Domino Performance

By Gabriella Davis | 6/20/18 2:41 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by John Oldenburger

In this 5th episode of my #Perfect10 webcast I look at how to identify any performance issues in your Domino environment prior to upgrade. Assuming most people will be doing an in place upgrade, we want to resolve or at minimum document any existing issues before starting.

I am just coming back from a long talk with Richard Jefts, Jason Gary, Andrew Manby and Uffe Sorensen. And what a talk it was. I cannot remember any conversation in the IBM collaboration space that was this honest and open.

NSF ODP Tooling 1.2

By Jesse Gallagher | 6/13/18 3:39 AM | App Dev - XPages | Added by Oliver Busse

I've just published a new release of the NSF ODP Tooling, and this one is important by virtue of the fact that it covers enough bases for me to put it into production with my largest active XPages project.

Domino 10 vs NoSQL

By Tim Davis | 6/13/18 3:38 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

With Domino 10 bringing Node.js, and my experience of Javascript stacks over the past few years, I am very excited about the opportunities this brings for both building new apps and extending existing ones. I plan to talk about Node in future blogs, and I am giving an introduction to Node.js at MWLUG/CollabSphere 2018 in Ann Arbor, Michigan in July.

Last month the Paul, Christian, Serdar, Nina, Martin and Nathan represented the board of OpenNTF at Engage. Unfortunately Nathan wasn't in the photo. But it was a good opportunity for us to meet up as well as catch up with both IBM and HCL.

Another Project: XPages Jakarta EE Support

By Jesse Gallagher | 6/3/18 6:20 PM | App Dev - XPages | Added by Oliver Busse

In my dealings with JNoSQL recently, I’ve been delving more into the world of modern Jakarta EE/Java EE/J2EE development, particularly the magic land of CDI. The JEE stack tends to be organized as a collection of specs and implementations, many of which are really independent of each other and the underlying platform, making them pretty portable onto any reasonably-recent JVM. Now that Domino is actually on a reasonably-recent JVM, that makes it a workable target! So I decided to create a side project to bring some of JEE to XPages.

How Domino Became Engaged – Application Design and Modernization for IBM Notes and Domino

By Red Pill Now | 6/1/18 2:59 AM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

Engage 2018 was an awesome event for a great many reasons. Seeing this event grow from humble beginning to an event that is now attracting 400 attendees from a wide range of countries is a huge testimony to the dedication of lifetime IBM Champion Theo Hesslemans. The most telling statistic for me was that 40% of attendees were attending Engage for the very first time.

What is NoSQL?

By Tim Davis | 5/30/18 6:46 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

I have been working with the MEAN/MERN stacks for a few years and with Domino 10 looking to introduce Node.js support, Domino itself is following me into the ‘World of Node’. This world is the full-stack web developer world of MEAN, MERN, and all things javascript, and in this world NoSQL is king.

Are You Ready? Notes Clients #Perfect10

By Gabriella Davis | 5/29/18 5:11 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

On today’s #Perfect10 webcast I show how to audit and analyse your Notes client installs in preparation for the v10 upgrade later this year. Understanding how many clients you have active , what versions they are running, how they are installed and on what platforms is going to be a significant part of your upgrade planning.

IBM Sametime Update and STCore.jar File

By Milan Matejic | 5/29/18 5:10 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

Recently I have updated IBM Sametime Community Server from 9.0 HF1 to 9.0.1 FP1. Before starting the update Process I would usually backup, and replace after upgrade, the following files.

Chatbots and Watson Assistant: Understanding The Moving Parts

By Paul Withers | 5/29/18 5:09 AM | App Dev - Cloud | Added by Oliver Busse

Over the past few months I’ve been digging more and more into Watson Assistant, formerly Watson Conversation. I’ve also been active in the Slack channels around Watson and Watson Assistant. I’ve become very conscious of a continuing theme around the product, based on a fundamental misunderstanding.

Font Rendering Changes in 9.0.1 FP9/FP10

By Daniel Nashed | 5/29/18 5:08 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

There is a font encoding change introduced in 9.0.1 FP9 to better display fonts when send in MIME messages. When Notes users send email over the internet, the font size in the MIME body is rendered correctly in the recipient email. No notes.ini setting is needed.

engage.ug 2018 – personal summary

By Rainer Brandl | 5/24/18 5:29 PM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

Theo Heselmans and his team again organized a great event in Rotterdam at the SS Rotterdam with a lot of news – especially for IBM Notes, IBM Domino and also IBM Sametime. HCL presented almost all features coming in IBM Notes V10, we have been waiting for years. Just one feature is missing ( or I did not see/hear that ):

Our slides from Engage

The last two days at Engage were very busy and the event went very well. Theo and Hilde set once more the bar of how events should be run and were the perfect hosts. The two days were filled with sessions, roundtables and meetings around the IBM ICS stack as well as a analytics related track.

Engage Week & Lots of News

By Gabriella Davis | 5/24/18 5:25 PM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

This week was the Engage conference held in Rotterdam – the largest and (IMO) best event Theo Heselmans has given us yet. Rotterdam is a lovely city and the water taxi that took us from the restaurant back to the boat last night turned a 5 minute ride into a James Bond chase sequence – at several points he took corners by tilting the boat almost entirely on its side (there goes Tim!) and then onto the other side (bye Mike!) before pulling a handrake turn and reversing up to the dock – worth every cent of four and a half Euro.

The Engage Experience – Take Two!

By Milan Matejic | 5/24/18 5:24 PM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

This is my second time attending the Engage Conference and for the 10th year anniversary of the event, Theo has chosen Rotterdam, Netherlands. The following is my brief summary of the conference.

Engage Debrief

By Paul Withers | 5/24/18 5:20 PM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

The last few days at Engage have been very interesting and extremely useful. The event began on Monday for me, with Red Pill Now’s Take-5 Modernization workshop. The event was very well received, reinforcing my experiences from the face-to-face Domino Jam and since, namely that design thinking is a powerful and effective approach for engaging a diverse set of individuals to achieve better answers to more complex questions.

Engage 2018 recap

By Andrew Magerman | 5/24/18 11:58 AM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

Engage 2018 was the best Engage I’ve ever attended. Not only was the organisation and venue superlative, but the recent energy of the new HCL team was infectious.

After missing last year event, I’ve returned to Engage conference, which was this time on decks of SS Rotterdam (unsurprisingly in Rotterdam, Netherland). While many things were familiar, like smiling faces of people from ICS community from all over the world, many things were different this year.

First impressions from Engage Conference in Rotterdam this week

By Daniel Nashed | 5/23/18 5:25 PM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

Just back from #engageug. The conference was the best conference I have been for a long time! Beside the great venue on the cruise ship the HCL sessions technical session and specially the round tables have been a big positive surprise for me.
