Domino will now get an IQ – The Domino Elf

For the first time in several years, there was a usergroup meeting in Norway again. Lots of new announcements regarding Domino was presented. Here's my report. A few years back I closed down the Nordic usergroup (which used to be the Norwegian) for various reasons. Then last year Wannes Rams called me and asked me if I would be ok with him and my good friend Arne Nielsen starting it up again. Of course I didn’t mind, and they’ve already had several conferences in Sweden and Denmark. On Tuesday October 22nd they finally returned to Oslo, where we met up at The Mini Bottle Gallery a most excellent venue.

No IT solution is delivered using code written solely by the solution provider. There is always dependent code written by a third party. Dependency management tooling has proliferated in every technology sector to support this.
And every solution includes an implicit assumption that the dependent code will continue to work as it does and provide whatever the consumer requires.
And the brutal truth for consumers is that the authors of your dependencies did not write their code knowing your requirements up front. Whether or not it fits your implementation falls in the realm of “caveat emptor”. If it doesn’t, if you need an enhancement or you find a bug, your priorities may or may not align with the priorities of the owners of that dependency. With a product, you’re just one paying customer. With open source, you’re just one consumer - not even a customer.
SpamGeek works -- O365 finally got blocked sending too much spam

Ohhh ... I was wondering that some mails did not reach me any more. And I took a look into my SpamGeek logs.
Over time the SPAM score of the domain got higher and now it was blocking also other senders from that domain.
It got higher because the words I added to the negative list. And the ratio between good and bad mail changed..

If you read this blog you’ll know I’ve written about the Exchange Hacks a few weeks back.
What’s interesting is the feedback we’ve got since. We are aware of many folks who were directly affected. We’ve heard through others of many more. Not too many people are posting flashing neon signs saying what happened to them publicly and probably understandably so.
We’ve heard through third parties of large high profile public bodies moving (or planning to move) from Exchange to Domino for mail.

Microsoft have had a really bad start to 2021. What does that mean for its customers? What we do know is that if you’re using on-premise Microsoft Exchange servers and use Outlook Web Access (or OWA) , since at least early January 2021 until early March 2021 (or beyond if you hadn’t yet patched AND done a post-patch security audit of your network) there is a very good chance that your data has been exposed or worse that your Microsoft Exchange servers and/or your entire internal Microsoft Windows Server network is compromised.

Three weeks ago I was able to speak at the virtual DNUG event with Joerg Rafflenbeul on the topic of a program that is very close to my heart. The adoption & guides program at Heitkamp & Thumann. I’m thrilled to share that HCL has brought over important content from IBM that was hosted in Domino! Note these are .nsf databases. Yes, Domino databases. I have asked if they will open it up to anonymous access with Notes clients like they had been in the past. #dnug47 not in Berlin

The situation is unfortunately clear. We can’t justify a #dnug47 in June as a presence event. This also applies to all planned events of our User Group. But we are prepared for online formats and want to offer this as an alternative. We have developed a plan for this, which we will discuss with the specialist groups on March, 27th 2020. Options for the Future of the Domino Open Liberty Runtime

Unfortunately, Nexsan killed off Transporters a couple years back, and, though they still kind of work, it's been a back-burnered project for us to find a good replacement.
